The sequel to Cruel in the Savanna Heirs Series – Tame, is anything but. This story brings our focus on Godfrey Taylor, son of the mob cover up artist Gerald Taylor. Godfrey lives under an apathetic, and cruel exterior, while on the inside he is just a victim of abuse and constant blackmail while under duress. While Godfrey still has his support system of his family, “The Heirs,” their roles pull back secondary rather than main characters in this novel. Their group dynamic, history, and foundation were established in book 1. They are involved in Godfrey’s life, whether he likes it or not. I’ve provided a link to Cruel, if you haven’t read it…yet.

Tame, is the story of Godfrey Taylor and the unlikely ally he finds in Rachel Nomar. The two characters are more alike than they want to admit. What I will tell you is that is this story is one hell of a journey for those two. That Godfrey will make you laugh, and want to choke and hug him at the same time. That Rachel is a victim of a former mob boss and is fueled by both fear and anger to move forward from where she was left shattered.
I always find myself a little at a loss for words whenever I finish these types of novels. The amount of detail, story weaving, plot, and character development is astounding. You won’t find filler in this book, What you will find is a fucking fantastic read.
Without a doubt, I could not put this book down. I read until 4:30 a.m. watching events unfold between Godfrey, and Rachel. Her family neck deep in mob life. Godfrey’s life, and friends coerced deep in Gerald Taylor’s evidence disposal/removal side business. It was fun to watch Godfrey push Rachel’s buttons, and her fire right back. Godfrey’s goal of getting away from his father, and Rachel’s goal of revenge.
And just for my own personal amusement, have you read The Bullets Trilogy? Yes, great. No? Well, you won’t know what I’m talking about then. In Tame we are introduced to a character that refers to himself as Forty-One. He is a chameleon of sorts. I found him amusing, caring, and charismatic. If you remember Nix, then it might not be too far a stretch for me to say that Forty-One could be Nix’s cousin. They are nothing alike, yet I can’t help but draw a familiar/familial bond between the two.
But I digress. If you haven’t read Cruel, start there. Reading these books out of sequence would be a bad idea, and would just get you confused. This series is not a reverse harem, and they are listed as a “High School Bully Romance.” And while book 1 – Cruel did revolve around school, book 2 had only 1 section reserved on campus. The majority of Tame takes place outside of the school campus. Rest assured, the “Bully Romance” is alive and well in this novel. And watching that disdain turn to love and respect will give you the squishy feelings inside that you’re looking for. Watching a man like Godfrey Taylor be brought to his knees for the love of a woman…Oh. My. Godfrey. <3 That ending though. *dreamy sigh*
