Reviewer’s Guilt

Hello Lovlies! Please welcome Rachel Seamen to The Naughty Book Box as a spotlight guest post! I hope you enjoy this as much as I do. As always, Happy Reading! – Quare Eligere

Reader’s guilt, it’s a thing. With all the things happening in the world right now, it seems to be more common than ever and affecting readers it hasn’t before. Most readers love supporting authors and when a reader finds certain, special authors, it’s magic. All the books are read, release days are anxiously waited for and tracked, and all the excitement explodes everywhere when new books are read. But, when a reader’s in a funk or overwhelmed with life, they may not be able to do all or even some of those things and sometimes, that’s when reader’s guilt kicks in. Let me tell you friend, it’s ok. Authors understand. Especially right now, they get it. Some authors are struggling with reading too and experiencing their own reader’s guilt. Also, while it seems obvious, it’s worth saying – there is nothing that says that you have to read, love, or review every single book that a favorite author releases. Authors appreciate any love they get and if it takes you a bit longer to get to their book and gush over it, they’ll still appreciate it just the same. Or if that new release just isn’t for you, that’s alright too, there will be more books that maybe are. We have enough going on around us and books are an escape we need more than ever. Give yourself grace and ditch the guilt <3
