The reader requested theme this week is Olympian Gods. I was quite surprised to find several series that appeared to have started and then been dropped. I didn’t include those since I hate starting a series only to find out it has been dropped.
I tried to stay true to limiting the post to Olympians, but in the end, I ended up with some demi-gods.

I feel like this one started out slower than some, although it does begin with a sparring session. It's been on my TBR pile for a while now, and it has a lot of good reviews on Amazon. I have a feeling it picks up quickly, but we did need to learn the backstory and I do think the author did it cleverly.

Sometimes I read the names of drinks from books and think I'd really like to try that in real life. Then realize that it's probably based on a real drink, and I'm just past that period in my life. Sigh. Nothing like the name of a drink to firmly remind you that you are past your clubbing days. I'd really like a Cindrella Number Five, for the record. I'm totally going to ask the hubs to order me one and see what happens.
Okay in all seriousness, I faced a dilemma with this one. It features a giant of a man, which just so happens to be another theme post I'm working on at the moment. Drat! I ultimately decided it belonged with the god's theme more, but for those interested in a not so gentle giant, this may be a good one!

It's not often I mentally ding a book for formatting or grammar, but I had a really hard time visually reading the first paragraph. It's almost the entire first page. It could have been the fact I was reading the sample on my computer, but I had to work really hard at reading it. One reviewer actually mentions it being tough to get into, but the number of positive reviews indicates it is a good book.

If a book makes me laugh or really even cracks a smile, during the sample, it is automatically added to my TBR list. It's been a good day so far along those lines, and this one made me chuckle too.
Also, color me intrigued, I'm definitely reading this one.

I'm confused about how old our MC is, and her potential LI alternated between calling her woman and girl in his mind which made me a tiny bit uncomfortable. However, I am intrigued with the setup and have added this to my TBR pile.

I am liking the start of this book! Seems like the author is playing fast and loose with mythology, and I am so here for it.
My clients at my vet clinic have always called me an animal whisperer. I’ve never questioned it. Until I started hearing monsters too.
A man came in right at closing with a sick dog. The dog told me why he was sick and I was able to treat him. I had no idea his owner would kidnap me. I had no idea his owner had an entire dungeon of monsters he wanted me to treat. I’ve met a minotaur, a mysterious kraken, a phoenix, and this really massive spider.
I can hear them too. If monsters are real and I can talk to them, then what am I?
