14+ Reverse Harem Reads

Ya’ll… I suck.  It’s been so long since I’ve posted what I’ve been reading.  Yikes.  To keep this post from being too long, I’m just going to include the one book in a series if I wound up reading more than one of em.  I’ll indicate if I read all the books or not.

Side note: I also listened to some books that I’ve already featured in one of these posts.  I listened to Plier: Ironside Academy, Book 1.  It was a great audiobook, and I just saw book two released earlier this. month on Audible, so I went ahead and used one of my credits for it. I also re-listened to Unconventional by Reecca Royce. I wanted to give em a shout out. 🙂

Be well, and happy reading!
Paige

P.S. Some of these I read so long ago, that I can’t remember it all.  I’ve done my best.

Paige's Perspective

Progress: Finished

Prospect: Reading book 2

Positives: I like the play on the cinderella fairy tale, but so far it seems quite loosely inspired.

Problems:  I'm not quite connecting to the characters, but I have picked up book two... I'm connecting enough 🙂

P.S. This is a kindle Vella book, but I didn't feel like it was too episodic reading.

I’m grateful to my gorgeous vampires for postponing all their concerts and rushing to help, but this can only get us all killed. The task ahead is impossible.

I am to become the vampire queen, but to do that, I first have to survive.

Paige's Perspective

Progress: Currently reading ~70%

Prospect: Will continue the series

Positives: It's a fun read, not too heavy.

Problems: I think it could be heavier.  Could go either way, but I'm still struggling to totally connect to the characters.  It's a bit easy to figure out what is going on, but I'm just over here nit-picking.

***Free Me is the final book in the WITSEC series.***

Paige's Perspective

Progress: Finished

Prospect: Worth the wait

This is the final book in a series.  I'm not pro enough at writing my thoughts without spoilers, so all I'll say is it was worth the wait, and I liked the series.

Amazon Description

I’m chaotic power and charmed trouble,
Like a hell-broth that boils and bubbles…

Sharp metal digs into my flesh as the man I love, the man who saved me countless times, locks me away in a prison cell, cutting me off from my magic, the source of all that defines me. He could at least look me in the eyes as the bars slam shut with a finality that clamors in my soul.

My angel doesn’t.

Alone and isolated, all I’m left to do is think and simmer in my anger, perhaps imagine my revenge. Yet with one visit from an old friend, I remember just who I am.
One chaotic witch with the power of the universe at her fingertips.

What happens when a chaos witch is backed into a corner? She comes out swinging. And if I deck a few of my mates along the way, so be it. They had it coming, and they have no one to blame but themselves.

As we work through our issues and bond the way that fate planned, an unexpected twist threatens to rip everything apart. At this point, what even is happily ever after?

More like chaos ever after.

Paige's Perspective

Progress: Finished the series

Prospect: Will read more by this author

Positives: I actually tried to read the first book a bit ago, and couldn't finish it.  I'm glad I picked it up again.  There is a lot going not throughout this series.  I can't say too much without ruining anything, but our girl isn't a pushover.

Problems:  Which sorta leads me to the problem - It's really hard to have a problem without a spoiler! So I'll just say in the second book (I think( - things happen and there were so many questions I was left with, about why, it never really got addressed.  Perhaps there is a sister series.  IDK.  It didn't impact my enjoyment of the series.

Paige's Perspective

Progress: Finished

Prospect: will read book 2

Positives: I love a mystery, and this book is chalk full of it.

Problems: I'm confused about who is who, this was a fast read though and I can't remember it fully now.  I marked it that I liked it, so I'll likely have to at least re-read the end before reading book 2.

Paige's Perspective

Progress: Finished

Prospect: Great Duet

Positives: I could almost feel our FMCs emotions through the pages, along with her men.  Fantastic writing.

Problems:  It doesn't seem believable, but I absolutely no nothing about the specific arc I'm referencing that it didn't bother me.  You'll know what I'm talking about when you read it. Had no impact on my impact enjoying the heck out of these two books.

Paige's Perspective

Progress: Finished

Prospect: I've liked Janice James before, this was my first by Chloe Gunter.  I'd read books by either of them.

Positives: This was a definitely more emotional book.  Not in a bad way, an a literary growth of characters way.  It was definitely outside of my paranormal binge I've seemed to be on.  Not quite Hallmark sweet, more like a Lifetime movie, but without, you know, everyone dying.

Amazon Description

They’re ruthless, frustrated, and angry that Roman dragged me into their world.

They seem to hate me, and despite the intense attraction, I don’t trust myself around them. After all, I have a deadly secret of my own. But when my life is threatened and the truth is revealed, the monsters must choose to return me to the coven or become my protectors forever.

The Blood Game is the first book in a steamy, medium-burn paranormal reverse harem romance series featuring dark secrets, wicked magic, and dangerous mates. For mature readers only.

Paige's Perspective

Progress: finished book 1 and 2

Prospect: Will likely read the next book

Ponderings:  These are short books, and end on cliff-hangers.  I'm wondering if they were published first in Kindle Vella? At any rate, I did read them both.  I'n bot sure I felt a huge connection to any of the characters, but I'm intrigued enough to want to know what the heck is going on.

Amazon Description

The picturesque town of Haven may offer sanctuary for all, but the irony is getting harder to miss: monsters are vanishing.
Aline knows better than to meddle. The runaway Princess of Faere learned the hard way what happens when others see what her magic can do.

No, it’s far better to focus on her own problems like running The Monster’s Den and staying off the paranormal council’s radar.

Tragedy strikes Haven as things are finally starting to come together for the lonely fae, and Aline has no choice but to intervene.

The blows keep coming when the paranormal council initiates a full-scale inquiry into why monsters vanish from Haven.

It seems her house of cards is about to tumble.

Can she trust the ghosts of her past and the unhinged monsters desperate to be a part of her future to help keep her safe?

Will they even want to when they see what she’s capable of?

This is book is set in the same world as The Monster’s Den. It’s an interconnected standalone that features a new female main character, but it was designed so that you can jump in here if you prefer.

Paige's Perspective

Progress: Finished

Prospect: Love it, will read more in this universe

Positives: I was super cautious starting this book. The timeline is concurrent to parts of The Monsters Den. I wasn't sure how that would work, but I quite enjoyed it.  The author says it's a standalone and you can jump in, but I'm not sure you'd enjoy it quite as much if you haven't read Monster's Den.

Problems: It has one of my least favorite tropes, but it didn't ruin the book for me, shockingly. Maybe I'm mellowing out?

Amazon Description

I expected the guys to assist me in solving the Thornwood Academy murders, not add a new victim to the body count.
Following events at the lodge and my unfortunate encounter with the fence post, I’ve no choice but to turn to my father for help. Of course, my blood-covered entourage of guys don’t exactly receive a warm welcome, but at least Grayson walks away in one piece.

With suspects galore, I can’t stay on the edge if I want to find the truth, so I’m forced to insert myself further into the Thornwood Academy social scene. But even a seemingly harmless date in town turns into chaos, wild accusations, and a trip to the hospital. As if that’s not enough, I stumble on my roommate’s secret, which leads to painful compromises.

The closer I grow to Rowan, Grayson, and Leif, the more our lives entangle. After spending my life avoiding a world I don’t understand, I’m grappling with unhelpful feelings for my bonded witch and his powerful magic, the vampire whose blood entices me, and the half-shifter who gifts me strange things. Not to mention attempting to control my dark and deadly side, which presents its own problems.

I can’t decide what’s more challenging—clearing my name of murder charges or understanding this strange new version of myself emerging. And I don’t mean the throat-ripping one.

With two dead and at least one undead, time’s running out before the killers’ next target dies. My enemies might play their strongest hand when I’m least expecting, but they won’t beat a Blackwood. At the end of the day, I’ll wear the crown.

Mystery, secrets, and betrayals abound as I navigate a world filled with danger and shadows while trying to keep those I care about safe. Who knew Thornwood Academy would offer me so much more than my dark heart could ever hope for?

For Dear Life is the third book in a new YA supernatural academy series from LJ Swallow. The Thornwood Academy series is a murder mystery set at a magic school where humans mix with vampires and witches. This slow burn paranormal romance features a girl who’s smart, sarcastic, and slightly unhinged, plus the three guys she’d like to keep alive.

Books 1 and 2 must be read first.

Paige's Perspective

Progress: finished

Prospect: Will read the next one

Positives: This is an action packed book, and you better be paying attention!

Problems: I didn't read the series about Violet's parents.  I feel like I need to.  I also wound up re-reading book 2 so that I could catch up. This may be a series to binge all at once, rather than reading piecemeal.

Amazon Description

I owe my sister big time, but seriously, isn’t there any other way I can repay her?
My identical twin sister is currently dominating the “Champion of the World” leaderboard, a year-long TV reality show that spans the globe. But now, she’s broken her leg and needs me to become Brooke ‘Action’ Jackson for one installment of the program.

But while she’s all about CrossFit, I’m more of a cross stitch girl.

And here I am, heading off to a tropical island for a week of mental and physical challenges. And right from the start Brooke is giving me extra problems. Seems she conveniently “forgot” to mention her steamy affair with the show’s host, and her escapades with the sound guy.

So when I’m marooned on a deserted island one day later with five (exceedingly hot) men and a nine-year old girl, I guess it’s time to tell everyone my name is not Brooke Action Jackson, I don’t have a ton of survival skills and…

…I’m just Daisy. The children’s librarian.

♥Fans of Lily Gold and Emily Rath are sure to love this wild reverse harem adventure filled with titillating turns and suspenseful twists.♥

Paige's Perspective

Progress: Finished

Prospect: Pre-ordered book 2

Positives: Shipwrecked on an island, yes please!!! I love survival books, and this one is so good! There is a ton going on here, between secrets, psychological and physical trauma, fear, hope....ahhhh so so good. If you tend to like the books I do, I highly recommend this one.

Problems: There is a LOT of stuff happening, book 2 is going to have a heck of a lot to unpack.  Hopefully it's going to be okay as a duet!
