This week started with a whimper. I wasn’t connecting with anything I was reading. I tried to read quite a few and couldn’t make it past chapter one; those books were not included below.
Luckily, I got out of my slump, kind of. I definitely need an interesting theme post next week to kick me into gear again. Maybe I’ll put all our open requests in a hat and pick randomly.

.
Four beastly princes. One awkward bookworm. An enchanted world of fae, magic, and danger.
I’ve always loved fairytales. I never imagined I’d actually be in one.
When my father wanders into the enchanted realm of the fae, I know I have to go after him. And when he gets imprisoned, I’ll do anything to save him… Even trade my freedom for his. I had no idea I’d end up imprisoned by four sexy fae who turn into beasts at night.
I have to win my freedom, and that means making a bargain with them. They must find their mates in order to break the curse. If I can help them do that, they’ll set me free. Sounds simple, right?
It’s not. Because against my better judgment, I’m starting to fall for these beastly princes. One is smart and sweet, the other mysterious and deadly, another flirty and confident, and the last prince… He’s handsome, strong, has a wicked temper, and is dead-set against breaking the curse. Why does he want to keep me here forever?
But it’s not just my freedom on the line. If I don’t break the princes’ curse soon, all the magic in the Enchanted Vale will be stolen by the evil—and stupidly hot—Prince of Thorns. And I’m not letting my princes stay cursed.
Not after I’ve fallen in love with them.
BONDED BY THORNS is a steamy adult Beauty and the Beast retelling set in a fantasy fae realm. In this version, our beautiful bookworm doesn’t have to choose between the four sexy fae princes. It is a full-length novel that ends on a cliffhanger. It includes MF and MM content. It is intended for mature readers only.
Paige's Perspective
Progress: Finished
Prospect: Already pre-ordered book two
Positives: I adored this book!!! I love this beauty and the beast retelling. I am trying to figure out all the mysteries going on here. Is a particular character evil? Good? I cannot wait to find out more!Â
Problems: I just remember being super excited to read the next book when I finished. If I recall, there were some moments I wanted to shake the FMC, but I can't remember. Â
I’m whispered about within the walls of the CIA. The Specter. Everyone’s heard of me, but nobody knows who I am.I work the extremely classified and high-profile assignments that nobody else could pull off. That’s what I’ve been trained for since I was ten. Since the day my adoptive father, David Briggs, took me in, he’s trained me to be who I am, and I’ve become incomparable.
How hasn’t anyone figured out who I am, you ask? I work alone. Every assignment that crosses my desk is handed to me by the director himself and I do the job without any help, working from the shadows.
That all changes when the largest ever shipment of fentanyl laced heroin is set to cross the U.S border from Mexico in under two weeks. If the shipment makes it across the border, containing 40 tons of heroin, it could potentially kill a million civilians.
I can’t handle this job alone. Not with the tight time-frame. Which is why I’ve been given a team to help me.
Elijah, Gael, Beau and Cameron. We’re tasked with stealing the files that contain the supply routes, dates, and times for the shipment. Piece of cake?
Yes, they are. I try to maintain a professional relationship with my new team, but they’re determined to make it personal.
Gael and Elijah with their sweet words and easy-going attitudes.
Cameron with his flirty grin and his in-your-face charisma.
Beau with his all seeing eyes and secretly gentle soul.
They’re determined to break down my barriers, and I’m inclined to let them.
Paige's Perspective
Progress: Set aside?
Prospect: DNF for now
Positives: I like the plot idea; the FMC being the best assassin/recon person in the CIA. Â Cool topic.
Problems: I didn't love the beginning.
The prophecy declares the darkness that once brought the world to its knees will return. The timing is no coincidence and I can’t help but fear it all points back to me.
With my heritage revealed, I finally know where I fit in. It’s not what I expected, but I can’t change it, just like I can’t change who I am drawn to.
A shifter, a demon, a vampire, an angel.
The stakes have been raised and souls have been sealed, but the questions keep stacking up. As the target on my back continues to grow, I am forced into the heart of a war I have no interest in fighting.
One thing is certain – there are bigger games at play and I must find my place among the madness. But with my trust on unstable ground, will I carry on alone or lean on those breaking down my walls?
The battle for survival has begun.
Paige's Perspective
Progress: Finished
Prospect: Pre-ordered the next audible release & final book already.Â
Positives: I really love this series. I listened to this one on audible. Â I'm holding off finishing the series until the last book is released.Â
Problems: I can't think of any at the moment, too excited for the final book to release this month.Â
P.S. The audible for Vicious Souls (book 3) comes out soon, yay!Â
High Life at the End of the World – book 1 of 3 in the Preppers series by C&V Guyer
The end of the world started the day the alien spaceships appeared in the sky. They killed the men and took the women. Doing things to their minds, taking away their memories and intelligence, turning them into mindless sex slaves. The men that escaped their death rays went underground, living as mole people. And I’m the only woman left on the planet.
Okay, so I’m totally messing with you. I don’t have a clue how the end of the world happened. No one does. Could have been a terrorist attack or it could have just been mother nature finally fed up with taking all the crap the humans were dishing. All I know is that for the first time in my 19 years on this planet, I got lucky. Real damn lucky.
While the Ragers (that’s what I call them, anyway, feel free to make up your own name) stumble about the world, growling, snarling and looking generally angry, I am sipping my iced lemonade on my pool floatie. Working on my tan and just catching some rays.
Yeah, the universe decided I would survive the end of the world when it had my cousin ditch her job to spend the weekend with her boyfriend. She begged me to cover her shift as a maid for some million-dollar house in a gated community. Me, being the good cousin, I am, agreed to poke through a millionaire’s things under the pretense of cleaning. Don’t deny it, you would snoop too if you had the chance.
So yup, there’s a pool, a giant library, an entertainment room and a state-of-the-art bunker completely stocked with food and supplies. Yup, you read that right! The millionaire is a super prepper! It’s seriously like the universe saved up all my good luck for one big life changing lucky break. But really, it can’t possibly get any better, right?
Oh, did I forget to mention the five hot guys that live in the community that could make even a female Rager stop and stare in awe? And did I mention the only other woman in the community is an old lady?
I’ll just be living the High Life at the End of the World if you need me.
This is a N/A Post-Apocalyptic Reverse Harem Romantic Comedy.
Please note that this story contains no sexual interactions between the main characters. Although there are plenty of innuendoes and hilarious jokes about it.
Seriously guys, We are a mother/daughter writing team. Please stop asking us to write detailed and dirty sex scenes. It’s getting weird
THIS SERIES IS NOW COMPLETE!
Paige's Perspective
Progress: Finished
Prospect: Added the next book to my TBR pile.
Positives: I did laugh out loud while reading this. Â Enough times that my kiddo asked me what was so funny. Â I'm not sure I found it as funny as some of the reviews, but it isn't often I'll laugh out loud multiple times during a book.Â
Problems: I kept putting this one off due to the disclaimer by the authors about not having sex scenes. Â I finally decided to try it, and I'm glad I did. Â It did feel very PG/PG-13 to me. Â I could have done with more sexual tension. Â
P.S. This is a clean end of the world story.  No horror, no sex, limited kissing.  I went in knowing these things, and enjoyed it for what it is. Â
The world tour has begun, but not everyone is happy about it.
While some audiences have embraced me as well as the guys, others haven’t forgotten my past. They remind me of it every chance they get. Sometimes they throw more than words.
At the same time, I’m caught between exploring my sensory side with lead guitarist Tully, and dealing with the guy’s popularity with other women.
If we can stay united for long enough, we might survive a new enemy, while an old enemy becomes an ally.
Or do they?
**This is a reverse harem, rock star romance with big instruments, mm and mafia families.**
Paige's Perspective
Progress: Finished
Prospect: Already pre-ordered the rest of the series
Positives: I LOVE this series. Â Each character is his/her own person. Â I like the supporting characters. Â I like watching everyone grow and learn more about themselves and each other.
Problems: I'm still not buying the mafia/rockstar shtick, but it's obviously working for me since I've already pre-ordered the series.
P.S.  I did myself a dirty.  I had forgotten I was going to wait to read these books until they were all released. But when Muse hit my kindle I got too excited. I started reading it, realized I hadn't read book two, and then couldn't stop myself.  I did wind up reading a couple chapters of book 3 before I made myself stop. But shhhh....I'll never tell.
Molly grew up in a small town in Montana, and she knows she’s different. Stange things have been happening for years, and there’s no way out of her current predicament with her ‘parents’. She’s tried.
Otherworldly men show up to try to take her from her home, and she finds out she isn’t human at all. She’s the heir to Hell, and her twin has finally found her.
Fated mates. Magic. Wars. Action. Fights. Will she get past her trauma? Can she survive this new life?
Demons. Witches. Warlocks. Vampires. Shifters. Angels. Oh, my.
Sudden Succubus is a 107k word stand-alone novel. This is a reverse harem, meaning the main character has more than three love interests and doesn’t have to choose. Why choose, anyway?
This book is intended for readers over the age of 18. There may be triggers for sensitive readers, including, strong language, mature adult content, traumatic memories, abuse, and neglect.
Also included in the series: steamy scenes, hot men, m/m, and magic.
Enjoy!
Paige's Perspective
Progress: DNF 22%
Prospect: Will not continue.Â
Positives: Something about it made me want to push through to 22%, so it wasn't an automatic DNF.
Problems: This is a no from me. I don't know how to say it politely, but this read like a younger teenager wrote it. I don't know how I pushed through to 22%. I don't think I'm the correct demographic for it.Â
A war is on the horizon, and it won’t be good.
Long before my birth, a war between supernatural creatures raged while a silent enemy watched with a smile. When the clans were weakened, the enemy stood and took over most of the country. That enemy was the human king that trapped me all my life. He was worst than the creatures that lurked in the shadows. He had one goal and one destiny, the extinction of all creatures. No one was safe from his wraith.
My fate was predesigned for me before I was even born.
The dragon shifter told me about my past lives and their ties to the Tree of Life, the source of all magic for the faes. Everything comes back to the Tree of Life, including me.
The Sheep in Wolf’s Clothing is a dark fantasy reverse harem novel, meaning the female main character doesn’t have to choose between any of her monster men. This novel is intended for a mature audience.
Paige's Perspective
Progress: DNF 50%
Prospect: last book in the series, will not be trying again.
Positives: This was an interesting plot idea, and I liked the series arc until this book.
Problems: I liked this series up until this point. I couldn't get over how TST the FMC was or how her 'mates' acted and treated her and each other. They treated her like she was TSTL as well. WTF?! The characters felt so different in this book vs. the previous one, but perhaps I'm misremembering the series.
P.S. I don't want to totally dis this book. Despite grammatical errors and editing needs, this series was good enough that I pre-ordered the final book. However, the 180 in relationships and the way the harem treated the FMC was just too abrupt, and I couldn't get past it.
As a world-hopping tour guide, I can take you to places you’ve never even imagined.
But I’ve spent years avoiding what I was made and trained for.
I’m a destiny weaver and after a fellow weaver goes missing, I’m tasked with finding her.
My partners in this are the standoffish but sexy soul reaper, Soren, his not so trusty ‘hound’, Brogan, and Finn, a dragon shifter with a penchant for collecting some pretty weird ‘treasures’. I find myself drawn to these men. To this place. To collecting souls with Soren and Brogan and guarding the gate to the afterlife with Finn.
Fate, destiny, karma: turns out you can’t escape them forever, however hard you try. And my own destiny won’t wait.
Weave Them And Reap is a standalone reverse harem/why choose paranormal romance. That means our heroine will end up with more than one love interest by the end.
It features: A grumpy sunshine pairing. Also featuring: sweet shifters, including a dragon that collects with the weirdest idea of ‘treasure’, opposites attract, found family, and fated mates. Suitable for age 18+ due to language and explicit scenes.
Paige's Perspective
Progress: 31%
Prospect: Will probably finish
Positives: I like the idea of the book. Â Seems to be well written with characters that are easy to tell apart.
Problems: I'm just not connecting with this at the moment. Â There are some things that happen that don't quite jive with what I've learned about the strengths of each character.Â
Before I was born, the world changed.
When monsters stepped into the light to rule, most humans were forced into servitude.
My family was one of many.
But I hold a secret inside me.
One I don’t dare share.
Until I meet my new vampire master—who wears cold and angry like a second skin—and his shifter friends. While he can’t compel me, I long to share every part of me with them.
Only fear holds me back.
I need courage to move from within the darkness to the light. But maybe with the support of the three men, I can embrace my true self. And if I bring change to humanity along the way, that will be an even bigger win.
NOTE: This is a slow burn, 105k, stand-alone why choose fantasy novel. Meaning the main character doesn’t have to pick between her love interests.
Paige's Perspective
Progress: Currently reading, at 79%
Prospect: This is a standalone. I am reading it now and will finish it today or tomorrow.Â
Positives: I like her writing style. Â She does a great job with pacing.
Problems: I wish this were a series!! At about the 60% mark, she could have ended it, and then we could have learned more about our FMC in book two and the significant action (not wanting to spoil anything) in book three. But I'm greedy.
P.S.  L. Rose is the author of one of my favorite series, The Hidden Kingdom. .I haven't seen anything else released by her since. She did have an all-male (MMC and male harem) release last year, but no reverse harems. So I was stoked to read this.Â
Literally have been in a slum for a few days. When I’m really feeling the books I’ll binge read until I’m done the series. I’ve started three different books and just can’t finish them. Happy to see you posted something that will hopefully dig me out of this hole! 🙂
Did you make it to the other side of your slump? I thought I had, but nope. Still in it. UGH. Why can’t I find what I want to read when I don’t know what I want to read!! LOL
