Friends, it is FINALLY Friday.
It has been one heck of a week on my side. If you’ve read some previous posts, you may have caught the bit where I’m a bit anal about schedules. Well, mine was shot to bits this week, and I’m clawing my way back to being on track. You get sick for one day-blergh
At any rate, hopefully, I’ll be back to my regular posting schedule for those of you that have caught on to it, starting with our Best Sellers post on Sunday.
In the meantime, settle down with me and enjoy these magnificent mysteries. I was in the mood for some more bite to my books, but not in a dark way. On the contrary, I wanted an edge of my seat, what will happen, type of vibe.
I guess an alternative title to this post could be “What I read this week, and what I’m going to read this weekend”—what a mouthful.
As always, all images and descriptions are from Amazon. As an Amazon Associate, I earn commission from qualifying purchases.
Shoot me a note if you have any specific types of RH you are looking to read, I think I’m caught up on the current request batch.
Be well, and happy reading!
After being expelled from college due to some fantastical circumstances, I come home and find my life has been a lie. As in, I’m not human. Never was.
I’m a shifter. A wolf. My mom fell in love with my dad and ran away from her pack, but they’ve come to bring me back, to show me the life I missed. It’s wrought with danger, multiple mates, and forbidden romance…and the worst thing about it all?
I think I like it.
I think, missing wolves aside, I want pack life.
But I’ll never get a normal pack life as long as the Crystal Lake pack and its alpha are being plagued by a mystical, crazy death priest, so I choose to do what I can to help my future family. I might be the only hope this pack has at survival, you see.
Want to know a secret?
I’m not just a shifter, either. To fight a death priest, I’ll have to meet him head-to-head with magic.
Crystal Lake Pack: The Complete Series includes Limitless, Undying, and Evermore, and has been rewritten from the trilogy’s original release. It is now in first-person point of view. This is a slow-burn, why choose romance. This collection also includes a never-before-seen steamy novella detailing the night of the claiming, along with her firsts with each of the guys.
Thoughts from Paige
I am not 100% right now, and I think I’ve been either too hard or too easy on the samples I’ve been reading for this post. I will be reading this book, sounds very interesting. BUT this is a first-person point of view, and instead of our MC thinking mom, she thinks Sarah. But calls her mom. It was very jarring.
BUT I’m pickier than I usually am, and both the reviews and the mystery are intriguing, so I include it.
From Book 1: ***THIS IS A COMPLETE SERIES***
Um. Um. Um.
Are you reading this?
If you are, I need your help.
I was at a party; I was running; I fell.
And get this—this is the part you’ll never believe—I fell down a rabbit hole.
Like Alice in those old books.
Except in those books, there wasn’t blood everywhere.
In those books, the characters weren’t all male, attractive, and interested in me.
Forget everything you know about the Mad Hatter, the White Rabbit, the March Hare …
This isn’t Wonderland; this is Underland.
Violence, romance, hallucinogenic tea, and magic … that’s all there is in this place.
There’s me, Allison, and there are the men that want me, the enemies that hunt me, and the darkness that’s quickly rolling in.
And only I can stop it.
So if you’re reading this, will you help me?
Please. I just want to escape this place and go … home.
ALLISON’S ADVENTURES IN UNDERLAND (Book 1 of 3 in the “Harem of Hearts” series) — is a full-length, gritty, romance retelling of “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland”. Don’t expect a children’s tale; these characters are nothing like their more innocent counterparts. This book contains love found in the darkest shadows.
Thoughts from Paige
I just finished re-listening/reading this series again. I wish I had finished book two before I posted the dancing theme, there is a HOT dance scene that occurs in the book.
I really enjoy this series. If you are able, I highly recommend listening to it. The book is good, the narration takes it to another level. Our MCs snarkiness shines so much more. The story is from Allison’s POV, but there is a male narrator who does the male voice. It’s fantastic, I don’t think I’ve heard another audiobook quite like it. I’ll stop gushing now.
The series is one big giant crazy what the fuck is going on, and I love it.
Do be advised that there are several modern-day references to books, events, and political figures. I did see some reviews that indicated it detracted from their enjoyment.
From Book 1: T’was a Dark & Sexy Night when my bestie-with-benefits and I agreed to revamp the kink-themed hotel. We were expecting vibrating beds and heart shaped tubs, not a long-lost flame and certainly not a harem of love. But there’s more than just cobwebs in these closets. There are skeletons… and surprise, surprise… some of them are mine.
There’s nothing I enjoy more than making magic in the bedroom but taking on this ‘hotel of horrors’ is driving me crazy. Quite literally, I’m having the strangest flashbacks of kidnappings and asylums. Are the ghostly girls of Wolfeboro trying to tell me something or am I losing my mind? Of course, I’m also having flashbacks of a sensual nature, involving the men around me and the summer I fell in love. The weird part is that some of these memories include the newest ghost hunter in town. But how can I have memories of a man I only just met? Is he the reason I’m being haunted?
We’ll have the hotel ready in time for the grand opening, provided I can stay alive. But that might be easier said than done, with my unbalanced sister stalking me. Not to mention, the ghostly girl who keeps leading me down dark and dangerous hallways.
For a mystery obsessed woman like me, there’s only one thing to do when faced with the dark… click on the flashlight.
Nancie Dru is the girl of my dreams… and also my nightmares. She’s got one of those faces, that looks different from every angle, that holds secrets. But by the time you’ve uncovered the truth, she’s already stolen your heart and possibly your wallet. She’s the illusive road runner to my persistent coyote. But she’s not my only problem, there’s also Carter Dru’s other daughter. The one I met first. The one I’ve been hired to track down.
It’s been thirteen years and Nancie Dru still oozes sex appeal from every pore. Her hair is no longer green, but she’s still got that wild streak. She’s the type of girl who can not only keep up but who sets the pace. I met her during a tumultuous time in my life—two screwed up peas in a pod. We were basically homeless, squatting together in an abandoned shack at Weirs Beach in Laconia. Everything was darkness except for her and then I went and ruined it. Or someone ruined it. I’ve been trying to find out who for a while now and I’m close, real close. So, why is she here? This will mess up all my plans.
Nancie Dru doesn’t care if I enjoy the occasional lollipop, provided she gets a lick too. She’s a whole lot of fun and she appreciates my love of wood. We are the black sheep brigade and that’s why I agreed to take on this job with her. She’s the designer and I’m the carpenter. There’s only one problem, her ex is the contractor. I don’t know what I did before Nancie. All the fundraisers and snobby dinners, life was unbearable. She saved me. She literally saved me from ending it all and now that I might lose her, I think I want her.
Afraid of No Ghost is a full-length, medium-burn, paranormal reverse harem romance filled with spooky autumn vibes and cemetery crime. So, if you like your psychological suspense with a side of cozy, kooky holiday romance and tongue-in-cheek laughter then you’re in for a Halloween treat. HEA Guaranteed
Thoughts from Paige
“the opening drumbeat to the song…rings our from the abyss-my nickname for my purse…” I cackled. What a wonderful description for the blackhole beasties!
Okay, I sweat I didn’t add the book just because of that line. Pinky promise. The mystery appears to begin right in the prologue. Is it the past? The future? And the plot thickens before chapter one is even over. I must know everything! Hence, I downloaded the book. I cannot wait for my mystery weekend.
P.S. Let me know if you are able to finish the prologue without getting The Sound of Silence stuck in your head.
From Book 1: Mistaken identities, a human in a magical world, and three sexy warlocks. Sounds like the start of a joke, but nope…
It’s my life.
After one too many kamikazes on my twenty-first birthday, I’ve made a few interesting discoveries.
First of all… magic is real.
Secondly… there’s a whole supernatural dimension that exists parallel to ours.
Thirdly… I’ve somehow gotten stuck in that dimension.
There are about a billion things wrong with this picture, including the fact that I don’t actually have any magic. Everyone here thinks I do though. They also think I’m a witch named Roxie, the star student at Radcliffe Magical Academy.
Ummm. Nope. Not me. Sorry.
I don’t know where the hell the real Roxie is, or how I’m supposed to get back home, but I’m determined to find out.
Unfortunately, I keep getting distracted by three hot-as-hell warlocks I can’t seem to avoid. Cross, a snarky bad boy who pushes all my buttons, Theo, an incorrigible flirt with a devastating accent, and Kasian, a teacher’s assistant who’s totally off limits.
Even though I’m drawn to all three of them, I’m not sure I should trust them.
Because if anybody finds out I don’t belong here…
Magic Swap is the first book in the Hidden World Academy series, a fast-burn paranormal romance about a sassy human who’s out of her depth and the three men who fall in love with her.
Thoughts from Paige
I love, love, love this series. I have this one in paper format too. It’s available on hoopla, so you can even read/listen to it courtesy of your local library! I really enjoyed following the breadcrumbs and trying to figure things out.
From Book 1:
She caught his eye. Now the hunt begins…
My name is Jack, and I have one rule. Never ask me about my work.
I chose this bar with my friends to talk business. I had no idea I’d stumble into a woman who takes my breath away.
She might just be a waitress, but I sense a fire behind her eyes that betrays something much more.
I think I might be in love.
I know it’s stupid, but I’m going to tail her for a while. I want to make her mine – and in my line of work, I always get what I want…
This thrilling prequel to the Intoxicated series is perfect for readers who want to dive into a pulse-pounding reverse harem romance. Grab your copy now, because Jack is waiting…
Thoughts from Paige
I am new to this author, but I am loving their writing style. This feels like the shortest ever sample, mainly because it is. Two pages, and that’s being generous. But the prequel is currently listed at $0.00, and the rest of the series is on KU. I’ve already ‘bought’ the prequel and cannot wait to read this book; it sounds scrumptiously suspenseful.
From Book 1: I had no idea how beautiful and terrifying my life was about to become.
Living as an independent artist in New York, I was soon faced with the new knowledge of my powers, a curse, and how bonding with five sexy-as-sin supernaturals would break that curse.
One by one they found me—Fae, Warlock, Demon, Wolf shifter, Vampire.
I’m their mate.
Their perfect match.
The one to unbind them from their curse.
Heart, body, and soul, I’m meant to be theirs. Theirs to share. Theirs to love.
From the beginning, they warn me of my fate. The stronger our magic bonds; the greater the chance evil will find us.
These incredible beings will give their lives to protect me, no matter the sacrifice, but I’m not willing to lose any of them.
They’ve stolen my heart and I’ll do whatever it takes to break the curse and stop the one who’s coming for us.
The Cursed Trilogy is a reverse harem paranormal romance series and includes:
Thoughts from Paige
“One of the things I like most about this coffee shop is the cute designs they make in the cappuccinos. Today, mine has five white leaves…” What a beautiful allusion!! I’m digging the style of the book, and the imagery we get to see due to our MC being an artist. Eyes aren’t just blue, they are “as beautiful and blue as a turquoise ocean”. I really feel like I’m seeing the story through our MCs eyes. I am adding this to my weekend Mystery Extravaganza.
rom Book 1:
Can a monster have a heart?
I’m a monster that the Elders use as a weapon: aim, and I kill. But the next target in my cross-hairs? Four sinfully yummy men.
I’ve never questioned my orders before. It’d be suicide. Yet, there’s something about these guys that I trust enough to risk my life, and now I have to decide.
Who’s the monster now?
When the killer becomes the target, one thing’s for sure, I protect what’s mine.
One-click now to dive into this steamy paranormal romance full of assassins, shifters, and demons.
Thoughts from Paige
This one is definitely sounding dark, our MC is an assassin. A dark mystery RH, love it! I’ve already downloaded the book to read.
From Book 1: My entire life has been a boring montage of skipping stones, listening to lectures, and waiting for my mother to die.
Now the wait is over. The Queen of the Night Court has been assassinated, and her throne is mine to claim.
But not everyone at court wants me to rule…
Everything was going smoothly until my godsforsaken ancestors betrayed me, placing my fate in the hands of my royal guardians.
Charming, devoted, and maddeningly eager to please—it’s clear the males crave more than just my royal favor. They want me… and they’ll do whatever it takes to keep me safe.
*CLAIMED BY NIGHT is the first full-length book in The Queen’s Consorts series, a medium-burn reverse harem fantasy romance. If you like feisty heroines, unforgettable heroes and spellbinding romance, then this series is for you! Intended for Mature YA and up.
Thoughts from Paige
Do you ever start a sample and just get a feeling you are going to like the book? I actually stopped reading the sample before it ended. I got awesome LORTR vibes with the scene in the water. Alaric sounds delicious, and I just knew if I kept reading this post would never be finished. I cannot believe I’ve missed this series until now!
From Book 1: Originally written under my penname Cleo Fox.

But as they grow closer, they soon realize that Chanel’s life isn’t as perfect as she wants everyone to believe.

Will they guys band together to help her, or will the darkness of her family’s past take control? Full of twists and shocking revelations, nothing is as it seems.
Thoughts from Paige
I am not in the mood for a bully HS romance, but this series has a lot of good reviews. I will definitely be putting this on my TBR pile. I do like books with multiple POVs, and I’m really interested to read an RH that is more from the harems perspective, I’m fascinated to see how that will work!
