Lucas and Grayson were the first two people I met on campus. I had no idea why they had taken an interest in me or why I kept hanging out with them. Sure, they were hot, but I didn’t usually do friends, and certainly not boyfriends. As in plural. Most people called me a freak. I was an enigma. Something they couldn’t figure out. Simply because my eyes were different. I mostly avoided people, but Lucas and Grayson were determined to make me keep my chin up. I felt safe when I was with them, and that wasn’t a feeling I had often.
My eyes weren’t the only thing different about me, but I could hide the rest of it. Until I discovered that I wasn’t really human. What a wakeup call to find out that Lucas was a wolf shifter and Grayson was a griffin, and better yet that I was their mate. But I had no idea what I was. I’d been adopted as a baby, raised in the human world, but there was so much more out there to learn about, and I should have been a part of that world all along.
Oh, and did I mention mermaids were real? And it seemed I’d caught a particular merman’s attention. But he wasn’t the only one. It seemed everyone was out to get me, and by that, I meant to kill me. Was it too much to ask to just be normal and have a normal sophomore year at college? Normal had never been in the cards for me, but until I could figure out exactly what I was, all I could do was keep going to classes and watch my back.
