Collecting Lovers like Pokeman (Slow-Build Reverse Harems)

It’s the weekend!! Almost. Woohoo!

I’ve had way too much fun with this post.  It’s taken me so long because I keep going down tangents.  Hopefully you all enjoy some of the books as much as I have enjoyed finding them!

I’ve actually had two requests for a slow build, but one was specifically for completed series. This is not that post! I’ll be doing another completed series post set because I’ve gotten a fair bit of interest in that, so stay tuned.

The reader requested a slow build, indicating there can never be too many men.  I totally agree! I didn’t search for large harems specifically, so there may be some more ‘standard’ sized harems, but I have looked for harems that are assembled at various times.

I actually read the term collecting men like pokemon in two books and I’m so mad at myself that I didn’t immediately add them to this post.  If anyone happens to know a book that uses this term, pretty pretty please let me know! It should definitely be included in this post. I laughed out loud when I read it.

Thanks for reading my meandering post, if you’ve made it this far. 🙂 As always, all images and descriptions are from Amazon. As an Amazon Associate, I earn commission from qualifying purchases.

Be well, and happy reading!

Amazon Description

Battle mage or magical engineer? Easy choice, right? Engineer, obviously.

I'm Charisma Carter, tech genius and nerd extraordinaire. I actually used to be Charisma Silverstorm, member of one of the six elite Arcane Families, until my family shunned me when I turned 18 because my magic wasn't strong enough. However, where I lack in magic I more than make up for with the tech I develop, if I do say so myself. Apparently I'm not the only one.

From the minute I received my diploma as a magical engineer, it seems like my world has turned upside down. Now, members of all six families are competing to get me to work for them. They're willing to use anything...from bribes to charm. It's not enough that the heirs to Arcane are walking sex gods, they also have a lot of money and exceptional magical skills.

As our paths intertwine, I have to try to stay true to who I am, who I've always been, and not succumb to their charms. But how can a girl resist when the future she always dreamed of is right at her fingertips?

This book is a reverse-harem romance intended for adult audiences.

Thoughts from Paige
I adore this series. The MC is brilliant, clumsy, totally an introvert, and so dang awesome. I love the rhythm each book has and feel so immersed in the world every time I pick up a book. Alas, only the first few books are out on audible, but I am definitely going to be keeping an eye out for them. I really liked the narrators as well, just an overall awesome audiobook.  We do get a pretty good idea about who may be in her harem, but it progresses nicely over the series.

P.S. I do realize I've included this series in quite a lot of posts.  Yes, it's one of my favorites. #sorrynotsorry

The gods walk among us. And they just might steal your soul... or your heart.

I thought I'd survived everything life could throw at me. All I wanted was to keep my distance from the criminals I work for and get my little brother out of the hell that is our mother's house.

Then I died and woke up to four stunningly hot gods telling me I'm now a valkyrie.

Sly, sharp Loki.
Jovial but ferocious Thor.
Dreamily compassionate Baldur.
Grim and secretive Hod.

They all have something to teach me. And around them, my walls start to crack.

But the gods didn't summon me just for kicks. Their king is missing, and they need me to find him. The first three valkyries they sent on the job never made it back.

More power is awakening in me than I could ever have imagined—and the gods' enemies are more devious than even they knew. It's going to take every trick in the book for me to save myself, my brother, and these divine men who're getting under my skin in the most alluring way.

I'm Aria Watson, and Valhalla ain't seen nothing yet.

*Claimed by Gods is the first book in a complete urban fantasy series. This action-packed, heart-wrenching ride gives you a kickass heroine, four irresistible gods, a medium-burn romance with no choosing required, and Norse mythology like you've never seen it before.*

There is a cornucopia of cursed objects from one of the most dangerous cults ever headed my way and I’ve never been more excited. My twin sister, Ripley, says when your hot wolfy archaeologist exboyfriend, who likes to cosplay as Indiana Jones in the most non ironic way, shows up again, you do not add to cart. But he’s been doing digs in Norway and Ireland at the ruins of the site where one of the most dangerous cults ever met their end. He’s bringing me toys. Lots of nice, cursed toys. One of these items is the most curious puzzle box. There are layers of curses to unravel to get to what’s inside. Maybe I’m stupid, but I’m dying to know what was so important to the Cult of the Aether Sisters that they stuck it in this box behind this much protection and buried it under ground.Everyone is warning me not to. I should have listened.

Thoughts from Paige

I haven't read this series yet but enjoyed the series that features our FMC's twin sister, Library of the Profane. This has been on my TBR. That book also fits this theme, but I'm not sure if that series is necessary to read before reading this one.

Amazon Description

Confronting a gang of dangerous rebels is one thing. Falling for them is another.

You can’t turn on the news nowadays without getting bombarded by stories about the Rebels. They look so scary on TV—blowing things up, knocking things down, terrorizing the declining city of Corona, and making sure even the rubble doesn’t go unscathed.

My father is the reigning Arcane Master of Fire. Since he’s a prominent figure in both politics and magic, it only makes sense that my family is a target.

Still, I never expected to encounter a Rebel leader in person. I never imagined I’d be drawn to him, either.
And I most definitely never dreamed I could lose my heart to them all.

The Rebels
Ember: the leader
Sterling: the healer
Zephyr: the thinker
Rain: the dreamer

And Aurora is the heart of the group, pitted against her own family in this page-turning series.

Urban Fantasy fans will adore this medium-burn Reverse Harem filled with action, intrigue and magic. If you like RH with adult heroines, spellbinding action and immersive worldbuilding, pick up the first book in the five-volume Arcane Rebels series today.

Thoughts from Paige

I devoured the first three books in this series.  It doesn't appear on KU, but it is available on Hoopla.  I ended up listening and reading.  I liked the first book enough to buy the first three.  I cannot wait for book four. Hopefully, it comes out soon!

Amazon Description

From Book 1: Death calls to me, and unfortunately for me, I'm his b*tch...

Being the daughter of a wraith means that death is in my veins. It also means that just because I happen to be found around a lot of dead bodies doesn't mean I'm a serial killer.

But try to get the jackass Supernatural Enforcers to believe that.

The thing is, I can't tell them what I am, because according to the paranormal world I'm an "abomination" that would need to be killed. So, I have no good excuse for all the crime scene appearances.

Which leads me to Nightmare Penitentiary, my lovely new home. A place with a lot of dangerous enemies, secrets, and three hot-as-sin prisoners who seem to want to do all kinds of dirty things to me.

Doesn't sound bad does it? Enemies and secrets I'd take, as long as I got my yummy men.

If only prisoners weren't being murdered, we might be able to find our own slice of paradise in hell itself. But with time working against us, we need to find a way to escape.

Or else the next prisoners being murdered might just be us.

WRAITH CAPTIVE is a reverse harem romance set in the shared world Paranormal Prison. It's steamy, humorous, and has a cliffhanger ending. So come join an amazing group of authors in Nightmare Penitentiary, a place you'll never want to escape from! (Also, this is the first book following this heroine and her men, but it released as Book 5 in the Paranormal Prison shared world. The books in this shared world can be read in any order.)

Thoughts from Paige

So...have you ever started a book and then had to put it down because of a character's name? Well, I can't read this book because of a name. Is that just me? The name rarely pops up in books, and I'm so sad I can't give this one a go. I wish I could do a find & replace on it! haha. This series has a ton of great reviews and is also available on Audible.

I knew it was coming. The letter. The summoning to the palace. A chance to become a concubine in the royal harem.

Every girl in the kingdom must go. I’m not special. But that doesn’t make it any easier to leave behind my childhood sweetheart and my home in the borderlands. And now my mother has ordered me to smuggle in a sword for protection, I’m worried she knows something I don’t.

It’s only a few days. Just a short break in the richest city in the world. It can’t be that bad, can it? If I keep my head down and my mouth shut, I can fade into the background until it’s over.

But I’ve never been great at keeping my opinions to myself.

And when the prince turns out to be the spoilt brat I predicted, I refuse to simper and smile for him like the other girls.

He’s playing us. We’re pawns in his game.

Well, I’m sick of his sport.

If he thinks he can distract me from what’s really going on at the palace, he’s wrong. Something sinister lurks in these hallways. A darkness they’re all trying to hide.

But I will find it. My dignity, my freedom, and my life depend on it.

I’m going to need that sword.

Pleasing the Prince is the first novel in the Cursed Creatures series. It features a strong woman and the men who will come to love her – the group builds throughout the trilogy. Strong language, adult situations, potentially triggering violence, and a cliff-hanger are included. But don’t worry. The second book is coming soon!

Possible Triggers: Discussions of rape, assault, and domestic violence, minor bullying, violence.

Thoughts from Paige

I always think of Hadrian's wall when I read a book about invaders keeping out the wild, magical beings who first inhabited it. I'm definitely a history nerd.

The reviews seem to be mixed, so I suggest you actually read the sample if you don't have KU.

Jax, Ascher, and Cobra are going to be devastated when they discover my truth...just wait until they see my shifted form.

Thoughts from Paige

I devoured this book and cannot wait for book two. The author was kind enough to alert me to specific themes/tropes, so a big shout out to the author; thank you!

There is so much to unpack in book one, and I loved the mystery aspect of it. I'm still trying to figure out the truth of what is going on. I am definitely sucked into this universe.

P.S. the author indicated there would be mm in this series.

My poor TBR pile.  It will never diminish! I was so sad reading the prologue, and then the book started.  What happened to our girl from the beginning? How is this new girl connected? Color me intrigued. I've already downloaded the book.

The author was kind enough to alert me to specific themes/tropes, so a big shout out to the author; thank you!

Amazon Description

What's the first rule of being a female coach in the NFL? Don't fall for the players. When I land my dream job coaching the Boston Rebels, I realize just how difficult it will be to maintain a hands-off approach to the team. Everything about them, from their broad shoulders and thick biceps to their chiseled abs and narrow waists, makes it difficult to focus. As if that weren’t bad enough, I’m attracted to not one, but three, players. Three offensive players who keep breaking through my defenses. I’m their coach, but absolutely nothing in my playbook prepared me for this. My head seems to understand they’re completely off-limits, but my heart is pulling a reverse play. *The Reverse Play is the first book in a slow-burn contemporary reverse harem series.*
