Alright, I’ll bite. Author Lana Kole definitely piqued my interest in both the graphic’s and the blurb department for her latest novel Chaos Unlocked. In fact, I liked the cover so much that I placed it on July’s Book Release Calendar featured image. What can I say, I’m a sucker for a pretty book face. If you’ve read the blurb above then your interest hopefully piqued as well. If you haven’t, damn it, get your eyeballs up there so I don’t have to regurgitate it.
I picked up Chaos Unlocked because it was different from what I have been reading lately which has been Academy, Bully Romance, and PRN’s. Those tropes are still going strong in the Reverse Harem popularity department. Although, I believe they are beginning to lose momentum. Seeing a Heaven/Hell trope, it was a no brainer for me to download. The Heaven/Hell trope actually my favorite trope, but not a common one. Yes, I do realize it could technically be thrown in with Fantasy, or PRN. Tough shit. Demons, Angels, and even Death deserve their own trope.
Chaos reigned supreme in this novel leaving me with never a dull moment, and speculation for what would happen next. I would rate this novel as a slow to mid heat level. There are some great build up scenes between Daria and the guys, and sexy times were had in this first book. This was a glorious plot bunny of Pandora’s fabled box come to RH life. Except for Pandora’s box isn’t a box…it’s Daria.
Although, Daria’s story isn’t a romance per se, it’s a family responsibility. A huge one with the perks of friendship, trust, and possible romance. This novel has moments of action, comedy, suspense, murder, and utter…wait for it…….Chaos. There wasn’t anything I disliked about the novel because I found it myself completely entertained for the duration. Excellent world building. Involved character development. I am definitely looking forward to the next installment of their story. If Daria makes friends with someone named Jane at any point in this series, I will lose my shit. 🤣 If you’re looking for something new and different, I highly recommend this fun read! The author Lana Kole is new for me, therefore this review has no bias.
